It Really Is The Process

I just had the entirely evil experience of spending a very long time on a post (which included 16 photos and a number of links) and with one unwise click of a key deleting the whole friggin thing. Paradoxically I was writing about the value of process over product. Right now, at 2:31 a.m., I'm too exhausted to care. I'm unlikely to have another session at the computer in the week ahead because of a delightfully busy week. In a strange sense, it really doesn't matter that what I wrote has snapped into non-existence. The process really does matter. I'm disappointed not to be able to publicly present what I put together, but the rush of life will be pulling me forward and bits of what I wrote will possibly come up again, polished for having been previously formulated and nurtured by their continuing presence somewhere in the convoluted reaches of my brain.

Even so, here are a few pictures from the Splash Dog competition at the fair. (I'm too tired right now to explain.)

I certainly commiserate with you...I've done the same thing and my techy daughter tells me it's not really gone...you just need to know how to retrieve it, but as far as I'm concerned, it is really and truly gone! Like you, a lot of the writing is for me anyway. It is in putting my thoughts into words that I do a lot of self-discovery and the product I end up with is seldom what I had planned to write when I sat down to post. It is just one more thing that makes blogging so interesting. And speaking of interesting...bless you for the work you do. It makes me feel so self-absorbent sitting here winding wool around needles and turning it into wearable objects for my own amusement! Thanks for visiting me, dear lady, and have a wonderful Sunday!

been there done that, it doesn't matter as you say the thought has been formulated and it'll be back one way or another...ps did I mention before what a wonderful writer you are?

Kathy: I wonder if it's possible to retrieve something from another entity's web site. I'm anything but computer savy. but still checked out my recycle file, which has worked when I've unintentionally deleted pictures. In any case, upon reflection, what I wrote was largely a fight with a "straw dog" that belabored the obvious and strained to make connections with situations that shared minimal commonalities. Also, it was too long (maybe like this comment). Thank you for sharing your own experience with this type of thing, the deleting part of it, not my critique above. Also, thank you for your comment re my work with the blind. Trully i get way way more out of it than I put into it.

Lorraine: I love love love your comments that I'm a good writer. I tend to spend a lot of time with my posts. Also, I your validation about the return of previously expressed thoughts brightens my day.

Been there, done that!! Especially when Blogger is having TOM and spazzes out when you try to post or the ISP does it too or I just happen to press the wrong button and then realize that my genius has been flushed into a nano-chip vaccuum.

nice doggies!

Laughingwolf: I enjoyed your doggie post and appreciate your commiseration.

Spider: Yeah, I wish I could blame Blogger on this one. Actually i can a little bit: The flush down occurred when I was trying, for about the eighth time, to fix a formatting problem; I couldn't get two paragraphs that were in huge boldface to be in regular sized, regular print format. Evil evil Blogger.

Hello Lorraine,

Yes I am back on track, well always been on it but not moving fast at all.

Can I just say I love the photographs onright side of you, the "this", "or this", "or this section. Very nice idea.

And you are a lovely woman, and as you are now I know there are men out there chomping at the bits to have a "thing" with you. But as ever it is NOT about the men! It is about what you feel, and want to be. I sooooooooooo know that feeling.

In fact I have a friend who keeps saying he like me as I am, and means it. he will still like me as I am, even if I loose weight. But he had rather I do not. *grins* Isn't that a change for the books. He is pretty special, I'll admit that.

As for losing posts in mid creation process. Like most of us, been there, done that, got the T shirt. And the worst of it is , I don't even know HWAT I did wrong!

Anyways, good to be reading of you again. and don't work too ard, make sure there is some "ME" time in between all the hectic running around.

Oh boy... don't you hate when that happens (posts deleting themselves just when you're finished creating them). A mum-friend of mine once told me that her 2 year old would push the button of the PC standing on the floor, just like that.. so the whole thing switches off. Would drive her crazy ;)

Splash Dog competition ? That sounds like something I would love! Great shots!

Losing a post drives me INSANE. Ragingly insane. Then I become dejected, and pout. Very mature, right?
